Frequently asked questions:

  • 1)What is digital Art? Is it by a person or computer?
  • This is a common question given recent advances in technology. First, our paintings are 100% handmade. But you might be surprised to learn we don't use atraditional brush and paint. These days Artists work ina computer using an electronic stylus and pressure sensitive tablet. Its not computer generated! We don't just press a button in PhotoShop and create random brush strokes Quite the contrary, we still 'dab' and paint in the same time honored tradition as Rembrandt.or Picasso. The digital tools just allow us to complete the artwork much faster. This is why our portrait costs are so low. • 2)May I see a draft of the painting first before I buy?
  • Yes, we prefer it this way to make sure you're happy. Take advantage of our $10 Preview and we'll create the artwork in advance and show you a proof online before you buy. For this fee you can view the artwork, make changes and decide afterwards whether to purchase. You have no risk beyond the $10 Preview. Just sit back and let us paint until we get it right. We do charge a little extra for groups larger than 4 people or any changes after the 1st draft. But we don't charge anything unless you're completely happy. That's our promise!
  • 3)Can you combine people from separate photos into one artwork?
  • Yes. This will take a bit of extra work on our part to recompose the final scene into a Collage artwork. The required service is called "photo compositing" with an added cost of $99. Just upload all the photos you'd like to use for your project and list any commentsfor positioning. Or let one of our Artists create the layout for you. Collage portraits using multiple photos can tell a memorable story. Visit our customer showcase to see examples.
  • 4)Can you remove someone or thing from my photo?
  • It is often possible to remove people or objects when we create a painting. In most cases there is no extra charge. If your request is too elaborate we'll let you know in advance and whether any add'l costs apply.
  • 5)How much time before shipping?
  • Printing your photo on Canvas is easy - these orders usually ship same day. If you want a painted artwork the time to see a proof is usally 1-3 days. After approval we ship from our Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Time to deliver is 1-5 days via Fed Ex Ground. Rush delivery is available if you have a special event or occassion. *Note: Project lead times at Christmas and Mother's Day can sometimes be longer.
  • 6)Will you deliver the artwork to someone else for me with a gift message?
  • Yes we can. Look for this option in our shopping cart at the time of checkout.
  • 7)Tips for Selecting the Perfect Photo...
  • We can usually paint from any photo you submit. However, to paint images of people, we recommend choosing a photo that's close up, in focus and has 1-3 subjects. This will produce the best artistic result. Photos that are dark or out of focus are harder to dealwith. We can do our best work when our artists can see the details in your photo clearly.
  • 8)Best format, resolution and size for digital photos.
  • We prefer a .jpg image in the range of 1 to 5mb in size. But we can also work with smaller images if thats all you have. Images taken with a digital camera are captured in .jpg format and require no change. If you intend to take a new photo please set your camera to the highest resolution possible. Scanning Tips: If you are scanning a paper photo into your computer please choose the largest resolution and size.
  • 9)Can I send a paper photo instead of a digital photo?
  • Yes you can. We recommend a minimum 3x5 size for best results - but we can work with smaller photos if that's all you have. We also accept film negatives or slides as well but suggest y ou not send one-of-a-kind photos or negatives through the mail. Scan your photos to a digital file at home or visit a Quick photo lab at your local grocer or drug store and have the photos scannedthere. The digital image they create for you can be sent to us by email. If you do send a paper photo to us we'll return it with the finished artwork.
  • 10)Can I use a professional studio or portrait photo?
  • Yes you can. However some photographers retain copyrights to photos they create for clients. In this case reprint permission from the original photographer may be required. When you submit our project order form you warrant proper permission has been obtained.
  • 11)Can you work with old, worn or damaged photos?
  • Yes. We can often fix torn or damaged photographs and turn them into paintings. And in most cases there is no extra charge to fix the damaged photo.
  • 12)Can you ship to another Country ?
  • Yes. For this purpose we suggest a "Rolled Canvas". This is a flat canvas print shipped in a mailing tube to international destinations. Sending your artwork in this way will reduce the cost of shipping and customs duty. Contact us in advance and let us know where you'd like the canvas shipped. We'll advise you of the costs .
  • 13)What is your product warranty ?
  • We guarantee your satisfaction....plain and simple. If you decide not to keep any portrait we create for you within 30 days we'll either REDO it or refund you. We do charge extra for changes you might wish to make but we won't charge anything unless you're completely satisfied. That's our promise. We realize the artworks we create often become precious family heirlooms. So we'll do everything we can to make you happy.
